2. HAI VAN PASS – THE PASS OF OCEAN MIST

The Hai Van Pass, historically marking the boundary between the ancient kingdoms of Đại Việt and Champa, also serves as a climatic divide between northern and southern Vietnam. It shields Da Nang from the “Chinese winds” that sweep in from the northwest. From November to March, the northern side of the pass may experience cold and wet conditions, while the southern side remains warm and dry. This pass is celebrated for its breathtaking views, famously praised by Jeremy Clarkson, host of BBC’s Top Gear, who described it during the show’s 2008 Vietnam Special as “a deserted ribbon of perfection—one of the best coast roads in the world.”

At the top of the pass, we’ll take a short break to relax, capture the stunning views, enjoy a cup of hot tea, and then continue our journey toward the picturesque Lang Co Bay.

3. LANG CO BAY

At the base of Hai Van Pass lies Lang Co Beach, renowned as the most beautiful beach in Thua Thien Hue province. This pristine beach is celebrated for its stunning natural scenery and unspoiled wilderness, with an average summer temperature of around 25°C.

The provincial capital of Thua Thien Hue stands as one of Vietnam’s most well-preserved historical capitals. Globally recognized for its royal architectural complex, this city boasts magnificent landscapes along the Huong River. The complex, dedicated to the 13 Nguyen Kings, features an array of royal palaces, citadels, temples, pagodas, and mausoleums.
