Itinerary
Chan May Port is centrally situated among several World Heritage Sites, including Hue Citadel, Hoi An Ancient Town, and My Son Sanctuary, making it an ideal location for tourism development. Located approximately an hour’s drive from Hue City, there are various ways to explore the city, but traveling by private car offers the best flexibility to suit your schedule.

Detailed Itinerary
In the morning, once your ship docks at Chan May Port, our driver will pick you up and take you to Hue City to explore three of its famous and iconic destinations.
For convenience, we suggest visiting the Nguyen King Tombs in the morning to avoid crowds. The first stop is Khai Dinh Tomb, built between 1920 and 1931 as the final resting place of King Khai Dinh, the 12th ruler of the Nguyen Dynasty. Unlike other Nguyen Dynasty tombs that blend with nature and feature traditional Vietnamese architecture, Khai Dinh Tomb showcases a blend of Western influences with its use of cement and steel. The tomb is reached by climbing 127 steps lined with dragon balustrades. At the top, you’ll find the epitaph house and a courtyard filled with statues of mandarins, horses, and soldiers. The tomb’s surroundings are carefully designed to harmonize with geographical feng shui elements, offering a majestic and awe-inspiring natural setting.

Afterward, you’ll enjoy a lunch break at a local restaurant in the city, where you can savor various traditional specialties of Hue.
Following lunch, the tour continues to the Hue Citadel. Constructed by the Nguyen Dynasty between 1805 and 1945, the Hue Citadel is one of the most prominent landmarks in Hue and is listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. Enclosed by a 2 km defensive wall, the Citadel houses the Imperial City, which includes temples, palaces, and pavilions used for religious and ceremonial purposes. Within the Imperial City lies the Forbidden Purple City, a private area reserved exclusively for the Emperor and his family. Although many structures within the Citadel have been damaged by war and time, ongoing restoration efforts aim to preserve it as a significant historical site and tourist attraction.

Another must-visit destination in Hue is Thien Mu Pagoda. Hue, known for its rich Buddhist heritage, is home to many pagodas, but Thien Mu Pagoda stands out as one of the most intriguing and historic. Built between 1525 and 1613 by Lord Nguyen Hoang, the pagoda’s origins are rooted in legend. According to the story, Lord Nguyen Hoang dreamt of a celestial lady who foretold that he would build a pagoda for the country’s prosperity. Believing in her prophecy, he constructed the pagoda in Kim Long and named it Thien Mu, meaning “Heavenly Lady.”

The pagoda’s iconic feature is the Phuoc Duyen Tower, a seven-story structure standing 27 meters tall. Nearby, you’ll find the Dai Hong Chung bell, weighing 2,052 kg, and a tortoise bearing inscribed steles. The pagoda also houses the car of Thich Quang Duc, the monk who self-immolated to protest against the regime’s violations of religious freedom. Despite its popularity with tourists, Thien Mu Pagoda maintains a serene and peaceful atmosphere, offering beautiful sunsets that create unforgettable memories.

After a full day exploring Hue, our private car will return you to Chan May Port, concluding your trip. Our driver will ensure you are dropped off on time at the port.
