Overview
Explore the rich history of Ho Chi Minh City by visiting its most renowned landmarks before making your way to the Cu Chi Tunnels, located 70 km northwest of the city. Famous for their extensive tunnel network, the Cu Chi Tunnels are a must-visit for both Vietnamese and international travelers.

These tunnels are part of a vast war museum in Ho Chi Minh City, offering visitors a glimpse into the underground life of Vietnamese soldiers dating back to 1948. The site spans over 120 km of tunnels, complete with trapdoors, living quarters, kitchens, storage rooms, armories, hospitals, and command centers. After the war with the French, the tunnels were expanded, and efficient air filtration systems were added, allowing the soldiers to endure the intense carpet-bombings of Cu Chi.
Itinerary
HO CHI MINH CITY & CU CHI TUNNEL
Start your day with a visit to the Independence Palace, also known as the Reunification Palace, which was built on the site of the former Norodom Palace. This iconic landmark of Ho Chi Minh City was designed by the architect Ngo Viet Thu. Continue your journey by admiring the beautiful French Colonial-era structures, including the Notre Dame Cathedral and the historic Central Post Office. Next, visit the War Remnants Museum, where you’ll find an extensive collection of exhibits related to the Indochina wars.
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.

After lunch, depart for the Cu Chi Tunnels, with the bus journey taking approximately one and a half hours. Upon arrival, you’ll receive a brief introduction and watch a short video about the construction of the tunnels and how people managed to survive in the challenging wartime conditions. You’ll then have the opportunity to explore the remaining tunnel areas and systems, which include specially constructed living spaces with kitchens and bedrooms, as well as various military facilities such as storage rooms, weapons factories, field hospitals, and command centers. The tunnels also feature hidden trap doors and traps designed for security during the war. After your exploration, you’ll be served special tea and cassava, a staple food for guerillas during the war.
Take some time to relax or, for those interested, try your hand at real shooting.
Finally, return to Saigon, concluding the tour.
