Cai Be – Tan Phong Island

6:30 AM: Begin your journey to Cai Be with a pickup and drive through the Trung Luong Expressway.

Upon arrival in Cai Be, embark on a boat ride to visit the remnants of a once-renowned wholesale floating market on the Tien River. This site offers insights into the local trading practices that have evolved with modern transportation and agricultural advancements. You’ll witness the diversity of the region and the richness of its orchard gardens, which contribute to its reputation as the “fruit basket” of the lower Mekong River.

Stroll through small villages where you’ll discover the beauty of Ba Kiet’s ancient house and learn about the local culture. Visit a small family-run business where locals produce coconut fudge and crispy rice popcorn. Enjoy fresh fruit and experience the gentle rhythms of Southern Vietnamese folk music, a genre deeply connected to the life and culture of the Mekong Delta people.

Experience the tranquility of paddling through narrow canals, taking in the serene atmosphere of the Upper Mekong Delta. Upon reaching Tan Phong Island, immerse yourself in the peaceful natural surroundings.

For lunch, not only will you savor delicious food, but you’ll also have the opportunity to engage with locals by learning how to prepare Vietnamese specialties. The meal, which you help prepare, is served in a local garden setting.

Afterward, enjoy a cycling tour along village paths, passing through orchards and making brief stops to meet local residents, offering you a deeper understanding of daily life in the Mekong Delta.

Return to the dock by sampan, then take the bus back to Ho Chi Minh City, concluding your trip.
