DAY 2: Explore Bangkok

Start your day early with a visit to Wat Pho, where you can witness the serene morning chanting ritual by the monks – a truly inspiring experience. Wat Pho is among the highest-ranking Royal temples in Thailand, renowned for housing the largest collection of Buddha images and the famous 46-meter-long reclining Buddha. Stroll through the temple grounds, marveling at the massive gold-plated statue adorned with auspicious symbols on its feet.
Next, visit the iconic Royal Grand Palace, Bangkok’s most significant landmark and a stunning example of an ancient Siamese court. Nearby is Wat Phra Kaew, or the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, home to a revered Buddha image carved from a single block of jade and considered the nation’s palladium. Continue to Wat Traimit, another of Bangkok’s renowned temples, famous for its Golden Buddha statue weighing over 5.5 tons of solid gold. Cast in the 14th century and once covered in stucco, the statue’s true nature was revealed in 1955 during its installation at its current location.
Later, embark on a long-tail boat cruise through the winding ‘klongs’ (canals) of Thonburi, offering a serene contrast to Bangkok’s bustling streets. Drift past lush greenery, gilded temples, wooden stilt houses, and charming local markets along the water. Life along these ‘khlongs’ is an enduring part of Thai culture, unchanged for generations. The remainder of the day is yours to enjoy as you wish.

It’s a remarkable slice of nature within reach of the city, reminiscent of Thailand’s national parks.
Explore this tranquil setting on a leisurely bicycle ride, winding through the lush landscape on pathways perched above canals, visiting floating markets (weekends), local temples, and traditional Thai villages. Perhaps take a break at a treehouse bar, soaking in the serene surroundings – it’s hard to believe you’re still in Bangkok.
