Itinerary

Thien Duong Cave is located within the ecological recovery sub-region and the limestone core area of Quang Binh Province, part of the World Natural Heritage site. Unlike many other caves, Thien Duong Cave has no underground rivers. It was discovered in 2005 by explorers from the British Cave Research Association (BCRA) and geographers from Hanoi University.

Detailed Itinerary

Visiting Paradise Cave is an absolute must when you’re in Quang Binh. Known as the most stunning cave in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Paradise Cave was discovered in 2005 by the British Cave Research Association. It is regarded as the longest dry cave in Asia, stretching 31.4 km. The cave’s breathtaking stalactites and stalagmites earned it the name “Heaven,” and it is considered even larger and more spectacular than Phong Nha Cave.

After exploring the magnificent Paradise Cave, a visit to the Mooc Spring eco-trail comes highly recommended. This spring is surrounded by a picturesque landscape, with clear blue water year-round and a rich local ecosystem. As one of Quang Binh’s natural treasures, Mooc Spring offers a perfect spot for new experiences, especially during the hot summer months. Here, you can cool off in the refreshing water, enjoy kayaking, or simply take in the fresh air and unspoiled nature.

From Quang Binh, our private car service will take you to Hue, allowing you to choose your preferred stops along the way. One of the first destinations we highly recommend is the Ben Hai River and Hien Luong Bridge, significant historical sites in Quang Tri Province. The Hien Luong Bridge spans the Ben Hai River at the 17th parallel, marking the division between North and South Vietnam. According to the 1954 Geneva Accord, the Ben Hai River was designated as the boundary separating North and South Vietnam, with the Hien Luong Bridge divided into two sections, each serving as a border checkpoint. The bridge also stands as a witness to the historic victory of national reunification in 1975. Today, the Ben Hai River and Hien Luong Bridge symbolize the desire for peace, national independence and unity.

Close to the Ben Hai River and Hien Luong Bridge lies another significant historic site, the Doc Mieu Base. To prevent reinforcements from North Vietnam from reaching the southern battlefields, the Americans established military bases equipped with an advanced electronic barrier system, named after the U.S. Secretary of Defense, McNamara. Doc Mieu played a crucial role within the McNamara defense system, housing some of the most modern equipment at the time. However, the electronic barrier was eventually breached and destroyed by Vietnamese soldiers to aid the southern fight. Today, a monument stands atop the hill, commemorating the soldiers who fell in the battle at Doc Mieu.

You’ll also visit one of Quang Tri Province’s most notable historical sites, the Quang Tri Citadel. Originally constructed in 1809 by order of King Gia Long and made of clay, it was later rebuilt in brick during the reign of King Minh Mang in 1837. The Citadel served as a military stronghold and an important administrative center during the Nguyen Dynasty. Throughout history, it has stood as a symbol of the nation’s resilience and strength against foreign invaders.

After exploring the Citadel, the journey continues to La Vang Holy Land before heading directly to Hue city. Located in Hai Lang District, La Vang Holy Land is a national shrine and a significant pilgrimage site for Catholics in Vietnam. The name “La Vang” is rooted in different interpretations: one suggests that when Catholics sought refuge in the forest, they shouted for help (“La”) and the forest echoed back (“Vang”), leading to the area being named La Vang. Another interpretation relates to the hardship and suffering (“crying out” and “echoing”) experienced by those who hid in the jungle. The original church in La Vang was burned down in 1885 and rebuilt the following year by a priest named Caspar Loc. It was expanded several times before being destroyed in 1972, although the bell tower remains intact to this day. In 1961, the Vatican recognized La Vang Holy Land as the Emirate Palace of La Vang Cathedral.

After a day of sightseeing in Quang Tri Province, you’ll be transferred to Hue City, the ancient capital of Vietnam. Our private car will drop you off at your hotel, marking the end of the tour.
